Intersections

The Shibuya (shuh-boo-yuh) Crossing is considered the most popular intersection in the world. It’s in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It is located in front of the Shibuya Station exit, and stops vehicles in all directions to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection.

Several large TV screens mounted on the cluster of buildings overlook the crossing, as well as many advertisements. The Starbucks store overlooking the crossing is also one of the busiest in the world.

Its heavy traffic and inundation of advertising have led to it being compared to the Times Square intersection in New York City and other similar places throughout the world. But the Shibuya Crossing is the world’s busiest and largest intersection, with as many as 3,000 people crossing at a time.

In the scripture, we don't hear of many city intersections, but we often see the spiritual world, or the dimension of heaven, intersect with our dimension. We read of angels, demons, even God Himself, crossing into our world and revealing themselves to people for special or specific purposes.

Although seeing intersections such as this take place would be a phenomenon to the average person, there is an even greater intersection taking place for us to see and experience every day, hour, minute and second - that is the intersection of prayer.

The greatest intersection of heaven and earth, the place where man can meet with God's presence, is not a special church, it’s not the temple, it’s through prayer. This mysterious yet powerful act allows man to come into the presence of His creator, talk to Him, petition Him and worship Him, regardless of where he is or when he decides to do it.

As an intersection is the exact point at which two or more things intersect, crisscross or meet together. Prayer is the exact point where we can intersect, meet together and be in God’s presence.

It’s God’s special form of communication from us to Him, and in this teaching, we’ll look at one of the best prayers in the bible - Nehemiah’s prayer to God.

We already looked at this prayer from a covenantal, theological perspective. Now we'll examine it and see what practical applications the Lord is giving us through Nehemiah’s example. I believe this prayer teaches us how we can become better at prayer, pray more often & sincerely, and pray and know for certain our Father in heaven sees and hears our every word for His glory.
