Welcome to our Worship Service!

[Judges 21:25 NASB95] [25] In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

ORDER OF SERVICE

WELCOME & CALL TO WORSHIP

WORSHIP IN SONG

THE HEIDELBERG CATECHISM: Lord’s Day 11

Q29: Why is the Son of God called “Jesus,” meaning “savior”?

A29: Because he saves us from our sins, and because salvation should not be sought and cannot be found in anyone else.

Q30: Do those who look for their salvation in saints, in themselves, or elsewhere really believe in the only savior Jesus?

A30:  No. Although they boast of being his, by their actions they deny the only savior, Jesus. Either Jesus is not a perfect savior, or those who in true faith accept this savior have in him all they need for their salvation.

CONFESSION OF SINS

FIRST READING: [Daniel 5:5-12 CSB]

THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL

[5] At that moment the fingers of a man's hand appeared and began writing on the plaster of the king's palace wall next to the lampstand. As the king watched the hand that was writing, [6] his face turned pale, and his thoughts so terrified him that he soiled himself and his knees knocked together. [7] The king shouted to bring in the mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. He said to these wise men of Babylon, "Whoever reads this inscription and gives me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain around his neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom." [8] So all the king's wise men came in, but none could read the inscription or make its interpretation known to him. [9] Then King Belshazzar became even more terrified, his face turned pale, and his nobles were bewildered. [10] Because of the outcry of the king and his nobles, the queen came to the banquet hall. "May the king live forever," she said. "Don't let your thoughts terrify you or your face be pale. [11] "There is a man in your kingdom who has a spirit of the holy gods in him. In the days of your predecessor he was found to have insight, intelligence, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods. Your predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. Your own predecessor, the king, [12] "did this because Daniel, the one the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and intelligence, and the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems. Therefore, summon Daniel, and he will give the interpretation."

SERMON TEXT: [Ephesians 3:1-7 CSB]

PAUL’S MINISTRY TO THE GENTILES

[1] For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles -- [2] assuming you have heard about the administration of God's grace that he gave me for you. [3] The mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have briefly written above. [4] By reading this you are able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ. [5] This was not made known to people in other generations as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: [6] The Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. [7] I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace that was given to me by the working of his power.
